
The non-emergency offices of Jefferson, Orleans, St. Charles and St. Tammany parishes will close Tuesday in anticipation of Tropical Storm Gordon making landfall on the Gulf Coast.
Jefferson Parish
All Jefferson Parish buildings will close Tuesday at 2 p.m. in order to prepare for the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Gordon.
This includes all Parish libraries, all Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation activities, Head Start Programs, Archdiocese, and the Jefferson Parish School system.
Parish Courts and 24th Judicial will make a decision Tuesday afternoon.
Orleans Parish
The Orleans Parish Civil District Court, First and Second City Court and the Municipal and Traffic Court of New Orleans will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
St. Charles Parish
The 29th Judicial District Court and the office of the Clerk of Court will be closed. Any filings which are due on Sept. 4 will be considered timely filed if filed when the courthouse reopens for regular business hours after the state of emergency for St Charles Parish is lifted. Cases scheduled on September 4th dockets will be rescheduled for a future date.
St. Tammany Parish
St. Tammany Parish Government offices will also be closed, Parish President Pat Brister said.
The Board of Adjustment and Zoning meetings scheduled for Tuesday afternoon and evening, have been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
The Tammany Trace, Kids Konnection Playground and all branches of St. Tammany Parish Public Libraries are closed.
School closures
Several school districts in southern Louisiana, including Orleans Parish, have decided to cancel classes Tuesday (Sept. 4) as Tropical Storm Gordon makes it way into the region and threatens to become a Category 1 hurricane.

Archdiocese of New Orleans
All schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans will be closed tomorrow Tuesday.
Athlos Academy
The Terrytown school in Jefferson Parish will be closed Tuesday.
Isidore Newman School
The Isidore Newman School will be closed Tuesday.
Jefferson Parish Public School System
The Jefferson Parish Public School System announced the closure of its Grand Isle school’s early Monday, citing Tropical Storm Gordon’s strength and Grand Isle’s unique geographical circumstances.
Around 5 p.m., JPPSS expanded the closure to all schools within the system. Communications coordinator Theodore Beasley noted that students and faculty could likely arrive safely, but forecasts predict worsening conditions throughout the day, which could cause electrical issues and unsafe travel home. “The safety of our students and employees is our top responsibility,” wrote Beasley in an afternoon release.

Metairie Park Country Day School
Metairie Park Country Day School will be closed Tuesday. All after-school activities and events are also canceled.
Orleans Parish Public School System
The Monday afternoon announcement comes on the heels of Mayor Cantrell Cantrell saying that officials could determine Tuesday whether to close city facilities and public schools, depending on what forecasters see in Gordon’s development. Cantrell said a call could be made on school closures Tuesday morning, but ultimately that decision is up to school officials.

St. John the Baptist Parish School District
All STPPS schools and offices will be closed due to expected severe weather conditions. All after school activities are also canceled. This decision was made in close consultation with St. Tammany Parish Emergency Preparedness Officials and the National Weather Service.
