The City of New Orleans on Saturday will host a gun buyback event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church (1807 Reverend John Raphael, Jr. Way). Funding is provided through a grant from the Wisner Foundation.

Residents must observe the following guidelines:

• You must live in Orleans Parish
• You do not have to show photo ID
• You must show proof of residency
• We are accepting personal weapons only. No state- or department-issued weapons.
• Residents can dispose of multiple firearms. Only one payment of $500 cash will be given to each resident.
• Guns must be in a bag or case. Do not bring exposed weapons.
• Guns must be in working condition.

Gun locks will be made available.
