Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred last night (01/118/19) in unincorporated Westwego.

At approximately 9:38 pm on January 18, 2019, Third District deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Beechgrove Boulevard and E. Claiborne Parkway. Arriving units located a black male lying in the roadway at the location. The male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

There is no suspect or motive information at this time.
