The NOPD is searching for a subject wanted in an Eighth District aggravated assault.

The incident occurred on Monday, January 14, 2019 around 3:35 a.m in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.

The victim was engaged in conversation with the wanted subject, described as an unknown black male. The wanted subject asked the victim for her cellphone to enter his contact information. The wanted subject walked away with the phone. The victim ran behind the subject to confront him and retrieve her cellphone. The subject told the victim he had a gun and raised his shirt to reveal a black firearm tucked in his waistband.

The victim feared for her life, backed away and fled on Toulouse Street toward Rampart Street.

The wanted subject is described and black male, skinny build, about five feet seven inches tall, unshaven, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a jean jacket on top with light colored distressed jeans.
