The NOPD arrested a subject accused of carrying a firearm into an alcoholic beverage outlet in the Eighth District.

On Friday January 18, 2019 around 11:32 p.m., Eighth District officers arrested Wesley Hayes (W/M DOB: 09-12-1992) in the 200 block of Bourbon Street.

Hayes allegedly entered a bar in the 200 block of Bourbon Street carrying a concealed Glock .380 caliber handgun with six live rounds. Hayes had a concealed carry permit and was refused entry into a different bar by the employees who explained that possession of a firearm in an alcoholic beverage outlet is illegal. Hayes then reportedly entered the Beach Bar with the firearm hidden in the rear of his shirt.

Hayes was arrested and transported to the Orleans Justice Center and booked on charges of possession of a firearm inside and alcoholic beverage outlet at negligent carrying of a concealed weapon.
