
A 28-year-old Port Sulphur man was in critical condition after being shot multiple times at the La Quinta Inn, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office announced at about 2:40 p.m. Friday.
Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jason Rivarde said the shooting victim was undergoing surgery on Friday afternoon. No suspects were immediately taken into custody, he said.
West Jefferson EMS was called to the scene at approximately 2:20 pm to a report that “someone” was shooting at 50 Terry Parkway in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn Hotel and that a male was shot.

According to West Jeff EMS the victim sustained two gunshot wounds to his neck, one to his chest, one to the right side of his abdomen, a deformity with a gunshot exit and entrance wound to his humerus in his right arm, and four gunshot wounds to the back. The victim was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.
Port Sulphur is in the area that was covered by the mandatory evacuation order issued
by Plaquemines Parish due to Hurricane Barry, but it was not immediately clear whether the victim was staying at the hotel because of the storm.
